Hello Friends,

In this tutorial you will learn to create a cool Business Card with The GIMP.This is not a professional business card ,but a Web Identity Card.This tutorial is quite easy to be done but has great outcomes.Here’s the preview of Final Result.Also from this tutorial onwards you will have the XCF for download.

Business Card in The GIMP

Step 1

Create a new image of the size 600 * 350 px.

Step 2

Change your Foreground color to “#44484c ” and Background color to “#000000 “.Grab the blend tool and apply a FG to BG gradient from top to bottom of the layer.

Step 3

Go to Filters-Noise-HSV Noise and apply it with the following settings -

You will have the following result -

Grab the Rectangular Select Tool ( Shortcut - R ) and create a selection of height 180 pixels along the image as follows.

Create a new layer.Fill it with a “#febf01″ color

Step 7

Select the Rotate tool ( Keyboard Shortcut - Shift + R ) and rotate it by an angle of 60 Degress.And place it as follows -

Now we will be creating the wood texture.Though GIMP has some good wood patterns but none of them suited here.So ,we will be creating our own effect with some simple use of filters.With the layer selected,go to Filters - Noise - HSV Noise and apply it with the settings ,same as in Step 3.

Go to Filters - Blur - Motion Blur  And apply it with the following settings

Duplicate the layer and set its mode to “Multiply”

Reset your Foreground Color and Background Color by pressing  and then swap them by pressing X.Thus you should have your FG color as white and BG color as black.Create a new layer,use the blend tool and apply a FG to BG gradient as follows -

Set the layer’s mode to overlay and deselect everything to have the following result by now

Select the layer once again.Go to Filters - Light and Shadow - Drop Shadow And apply it one after other with the following settings

Get hold of the text tool and with help of some suitable fonts and gradients ,write your desirable text as follows -

Though the image looks cool,but it looks empty.You can add any stock or image but for this tutorial I have used the firestock from here.

This are requires your own creativity.You will need to play with the fire stock.I played around with the fire image,removed the extra part and the black areas.Set its mode to screen and duplicated it to get the following.
