Hello Friends,

In this tutorial you will learn how to create a cool looking bluish wallpaper with The GIMP.This tutorial ,though intended for beginners,but involves basic techniques like using the Path tool and blending etc.Here’s the after effect of this tutorial.

Step 1

To begin with,create a new image of size 800 * 600 px.

Step 2

Change the foreground color to “d6f9ff” and background color to “9ee8fa”.Select the Blend Tool (Keyboard Shortcut - ‘L’ ) and apply it from top left to bottom right as shown below.

You will have the following effect

Step 4

Now grab the path tool and create a path like this -

Now go to the path dialog box,right click the newly created path and click “Path To Selection”.

Create a new layer.Now change your Foreground color to “0fb4e7″ and Background color to “a7e3f7″ and apply a BG to FG blend from middle of selection to bottom as in the image.Change the layer’s opacity to 30%

Change your Foreground color back to White again.Create a new layer ,go back to the path dialog box and right click the path and click “Stroke Path”.Stroke the path with the following options

 Change the newly created layer’s opacity to 70%

You will have the following effect now

Simillarly create 2 more new path simillar to as in the figure and in the same order.

Repeat Step 5 - Step 8 but for the following values

                 FG Color   BG Color   Layer Opacity    Stroke Layer Opacity           

Path 1       #87e0fd   #15b1e3         60%                          90%

Path 2       #a9e4f7   #16b6e8         50%                           50%

Your Wallpaper will now look like this.You can click the image to enlarge.

Your Wallpaper is now ready ,you can now add some effects by your own to give it a better look.By using the same techniques you can make some stunning effects.

Use some floral brushes to add to the coolness of wallpaper
